Please arrive promptly at 8:00 AM. We will being immediately with a legislative update. Educational opportunities are provided throughout the day; however, the legislative appointments need to take priority in your schedules as this is the purpose of this annual event!

To determine your legislator, visit:  MHPN’s lobbyist, Kelley Cawthorne, will arrange all appointments with legislators for each attendee. Legislative visits are sometimes difficult to secure and will be coordinated to the best of the staff’s ability. 


Registrations received after the February 7th may not have confirmed appointments with legislators.

Represent historic preservations by advocating in the Michigan Legislature. With the advocacy efforts of people around the state, preservationists have passed or opposed critical legislation: 

1970 Public Act 169, Local Historic District Act

1999 Amendment to PA 169 to Include a 25% Tax Credit

2001 Michigan’s Historic Tax Credits Made ‘Permanent”

2007 SB 973- Enhancements to Historic Tax Credits

2011 SB 566-569 and 644- Michigan Community Revitalization Program 

2019 Local Historic District Act Saved from Major Changes

Senate Bill 54 & House Bill 4100

Reinstating Michigan’s State Rehab Tax Credit
